In the weekend
Battle of the YellowJackets, Howard Payne took 6-1 and 16-10 victories in the final two games of the series on Saturday as the LETU offense in the series finale wasn't enough to pull off the win.

In game one of the Saturday doubleheader, LeTourneau couldn't find any offense as they recorded just four hits and left six on base in the seven-inning contest.

The YellowJackets got a solo homerun from junior
Gonzalo Sosa in the top of the sixth inning to cut the HPU lead to 4-1. But, Howard Payne would respond with two runs in the bottom of the inning to put the game out of reach.

Senior
Jordan Carns falls to 1-6 on the season after giving up four runs on five hits in his 2.1 innings. Sophomore
Luke Ludwig pitched the remaining 3.2 innings in relief striking out two. Ludwig gave up two runs on two hits while forcing five fly outs.

The LeTourneau bats would warm up in the second game as they jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Senior
Kyle Jacobs singled to right field to score freshman
Zach Cochran who had reached on a throwing error. In the second inning Cochran got his own RBI as his sacrifice fly scored fellow freshman
Haden Simmons.

Howard Payne stormed back with a five-run third inning and added three more in the fourth to take an 8-4 lead.

Noah Mahoney and
Jacob Faubion would each have an RBI in the top of the fifth inning to pull the YellowJackets within one run at 8-7.

HPU would score eight runs in the next three innings to pull away from LeTourneau and earn the series finale victory.

Kyle Jacobs led the LeTourneau offense going 3-for-5 at the plate recording two RBIs and was walked once. Senior
Jacob Simmons also notched two RBIs as he drew two walks and went 1-for-3 at the plate.

Haden Simmons falls to 1-4 on the mound this season. The freshman right-hander gave up five runs on seven hits in his 2.2 innings. Fellow freshman
Bryce Pauler struck out three in his two innings of relief.

LeTourneau will be back at Conrad-Vernon field next weekend with a doubleheader against University of Dallas on Saturday, April 1
st. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. with the series finale to take place on Sunday, April 2
nd starting at 2 p.m.
