YellowJacket baseball is still in search of their first conference victory as they fell 9-5 to Sul Ross State on Friday night.
LeTourneau was outhit 16-8 but held a 4-2 lead heading to the bottom of the seventh inning in Alpine. The Lobos used a five-run eighth inning to surge past the YellowJackets and earn their 11
th win of the season.
LETU (8-19, 0-13 ASC) started the scoring with a sacrifice fly from senior
Kyle Jacobs that scored freshman
Bryce Pauler. Pauler went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs.
They would pick up the offense again in the seventh inning as Pauler would score on an error and Jacobs would score on a passed ball to take a 3-2 lead.
Noah Mahoney stepped to the plate and extended the lead to 4-2 with a double to left center to score
Shane Drolet.
SRSU rallied in the seventh and eighth inning scoring seven runs to take a 9-4 lead. LeTourneau loaded the bases in the top of ninth inning and once again Mahoney delivered with an RBI.
The YellowJackets will look to even the series on Saturday afternoon with the first pitch of the doubleheader at 12 p.m.
