Volleyball Suffers Loss at UT Dallas

RICHARDSON, Texas -- The LeTourneau volleyball team could not overcome ASC-leading UT Dallas on Saturday afternoon in a 3-0 loss (25-9, 25-19, 25-18) in Richardson.

The loss dropped LeTourneau to 12-8 overall and 6-5 in conference play. UT Dallas, which came into Saturday leading the conference, goes to 13-4 and 9-1 in ASC action.

LeTourneau was led by seven kills and 10 digs from Hannah Payan, while Allison Smith had five kills and two blocks. Morgan Nix totaled 12 digs in the loss.

UT Dallas jumped ahead in the opening set and cruised to a 25-9 win. In the second set, LeTourneau took a 7-2 lead after back-to-back blocks from Avery Mabery Morgan (one solo and one assisted with Smith). The host Comets answered with five straight and the teams traded points over the next few rallies.

UT Dallas grabbed the lead for good in the set on a kill from Catherine Croft that made it 12-11.

LeTourneau had its most efficient attack in the third set with 12 kills, but the YellowJackets could not limit UT Dallas as the Comets used a string of points midway through the frame to seize control and finish off the sweep.

Reina Lawson added nine assists and seven digs, while Natalie Davenport had six assists and nine digs.

UT Dallas got 10 kills from Croft and 23 assists from Izzy Sundquist. Madison Ball had a match-high 15 digs.

SCHEDULE CHANGE

LeTourneau's home weekend against ASC foes on Oct. 21-22 has been adjusted. The YellowJackets will host Concordia on Friday at 6 p.m. and Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.

LeTourneau travels to Marshall, Texas to take on Wiley on Tuesday (6 p.m.).
