MARSHALL, Texas --
Hannah Payan notched her 10th double-double of the season and the LeTourneau volleyball team completed a season sweep of Wiley with a 3-1 win (27-25, 20-25, 25-14, 25-15) on the road on Tuesday night.
It was the second meeting in four days between the teams as LeTourneau (13-8) took both matches in four sets.
Payan recorded 14 kills and 14 digs to register her 10th double-double of the year and the 17th time she has recorded double-digit kills.
Reina Lawson (19 assists) and
Natalie Davenport (18 assists) combined for 37 assists, while
Morgan Nix tallied 30 digs.Â
Avery Mabery Morgan totaled 10 kills and
Kaci Monk had eight kills with a .412 hitting percentage.
It took extra points, but LeTourneau took the opening set, 27-25. The YellowJackets led 21-17 after a combined block from
Alexis Bowen Johnson and
Meghan Womack, but Wiley answered four straight to even the score. LeTourneau staved off a Wiley set point as Payan recorded a clutch kill. Tied at 25-25, A Wiley serve error followed by a Womack kill gave the YellowJackets the set win.
Wiley responded with a victory in the second set, but LeTourneau answered with back-to-back efficient sets to finish off the win. The YellowJackets had 11 kills and hit .417 as a team in a third set win before tallying 13 kills in the fourth set.
LeTourneau pulled away and led by 11 (17-6) in the third set after a
Hattie Mills ace. The lead grew to 24-9 after an
Amya Orn solo block as the YellowJackets cruised to the set win. In the fourth, a 9-1 run opened up a 22-13 lead after a block from
Allison Smith and Payan.
LeTourneau recorded 49 kills in the win and had a 75-63 advantage in digs.Â
Hailie Williams had 11 kills, LeAndria Jackson totaled 35 assists, and Alia Scott had 20 digs in the loss for Wiley (8-17).
