Davenport, Morgan Honored on Senior Day

LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau volleyball team honored its senior class on Saturday before falling to Mary Hardin-Baylor, 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 26-24), in ASC action inside Solheim Arena.

Natalie Davenport and Avery Mabery Morgan were both honored for the contributions to the program before the match. Davenport is a four-year player that has helped the YellowJackets to 65 wins and is second all-time in program history in career assists with 2,188 while being a two-time All-ASC selection and the conference's co-Freshman of the Year in the East Division. Morgan, a junior set to graduate, has enjoyed a breakout season this year with a career-high 140 kills.

In the match, LeTourneau (14-9, 7-6 ASC) could not overcome Mary Hardin-Baylor as the visiting Cru took the sweep.

The Cru got out to a fast start in the first set and took a double-digit lead before winning 25-13.

In the second set, LeTourneau got back into the match with a match-high 13 kills, but the YellowJackets could not dig out of a 17-9 deficit. A 9-3 run by LeTourneau erased an 18-12 deficit and knotted the score at 21-21 on a kill from Davenport. An Allison Smith kill three points later got the YellowJackets within 23-22, but UMHB secured the final two points to take a 2-0 match lead.

The third set was the tightest frame of the match featuring 12 ties and five lead changes. LeTourneau led 18-15 after an assisted block from Alexis Bowen Johnson and Kaci Monk. The lead stayed at three for LeTourneau later in the set, but the Cru went on a 5-1 run to capture a 24-23 lead.

The YellowJackets staved off the first match-point chance as Kaylyn Taylor notched a kill to make it 24-24. However, the Cru received back-to-back kills from Katie Warden and Jenci Seahorn to finish off the win.

Davenport finished with 15 assists and seven digs, while Morgan had six kills. Monk had a team-high nine kills with two blocks and Smith added seven kills. Morgan Nix tallied 19 digs and Ty Shannon had 12.

UMHB (16-7, 9-5 ASC) got 16 kills and 15 digs from Hannah Frasca along with nine kills each from Warden and McKenna Cowsert. Ella Brunson had 42 assists and Alyssa Christiansen totaled 19 digs.
