LETU Women's Hoops Overcomes Centenary in OT

MARSHALL, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's basketball team rallied late in the fourth quarter to force overtime and the YellowJackets sprinted ahead in the extra session before holding off Centenary for a 67-60 victory in the opener of the ETBU Classic on Friday evening.

LeTourneau opens the year 1-0 with the comeback win.

Johnai Wimbleduff hit a 3-pointer with one minute left in the fourth to get LeTourneau within a point before tying the game with her free throw with 14 seconds left to send the game into overtime.

In the overtime, Wimbleduff kicked off a 7-0 scoring run for the YellowJackets with her jumper to give LeTourneau a 55-53 lead. A Bailey Broughton 3-pointer followed by another Wimbleduff bucket capped the run that gave the YellowJackets a 60-53 lead with 3:35 remaining.

LeTourneau went 5-of-6 from the free throw line down the stretch to hold the lead and take the season-opening win. The YellowJackets feasted on the line all night going 24-for-32.

Wimbleduff finished with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Alyssa Hall had a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds to go along with five assists, six blocks, and two steals. Hall's six blocks were one shy of the program's single-game record.

Broughton was clutch at the free throw line as she went 9-for-10 and finished with 12 points and five assists. Ajanae Thomas was the fourth YellowJacket in double-figure scoring with her 12 points.

LeTourneau led 14-11 after the first quarter, but Centenary outscored the YellowJackets 15-6 in the second to grab a 26-20 lead at halftime. The Ladies led by as many as 12 (32-20) early in the third quarter before a 10-0 run got LeTourneau within two at the 4:32 mark.

Centenary (0-2) received a game-high 17 points from Jazzmyn Jones and 12 points from Dymon Drumgo.
