Women's Hoops Falls on the Road at McMurry

ABILENE, Texas -- Three LeTourneau women's basketball players scored in double-digits, but the YellowJackets could not overcome McMurry in a 74-58 loss on Saturday afternoon at Kimbrell Arena.

AJ Thomas led LeTourneau (3-5, 0-2 ASC) with 13 points and four rebounds, while Alyssa Hall came off the bench to score 12 points and Haylee Jordan added 11 points. Johnai Wimbleduff scored nine points with four rebounds and two assists.

McMurry (6-1, 1-1 ASC) led for the majority of the game and held a double-digit lead for most of that time. The host War Hawks outscored the YellowJackets 21-11 in the opening quarter after LeTourneau had briefly taken a 4-3 lead early on. 

Emily Holland had 20 points, including going 11-of-13 from the foul line, to lead McMurry and all players. Kylie Flippin added 19 points and seven rebounds with Helena Chadwick contributing 12 points. McMurry hit 11 3-pointers and connected on 43.4 percent (23-of-53) from the field.

LeTourneau trailed by 18 entering the fourth quarter, but chipped away at the margin. Ty Moon had back-to-back buckets to open the period to get LeTourneau within 14 (60-46). LeTourneau got the margin under 10 after a Jordan jumper with 2:08 left, but McMurry held off and pulled away for the home win.

Moon finished with six points and Kyndall Hardeman tallied seven points. Madelyn DeLosSantos had a team-high three assists. LeTourneau shot 41.3 percent (19-of-46) for the game and went 16-of-17 from the free throw line. 

UP NEXT

LeTourneau heads to NAIA foe LSU-Shreveport for an exhibition game on Tuesday (5:30 p.m.) before playing its home opener on Dec. 8 against Mary Hardin-Baylor (5:30 p.m.).
