Men's Soccer Dominates in 3-0 Win over Texas College

LONGVIEW, Texas -- Three first-half goals and a third straight shutout led the LeTourneau men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over visiting Texas College on a Blue Out Night at the Joyce Family Athletic Village on Friday night.

LeTourneau (2-2-1) is unbeaten over its last three matches (2-0-1) and the YellowJackets have not surrendered a goal during that stretch.

The YellowJackets had their biggest scoring half of the year in the opening 45 minutes. Keaton Johnson, Nahum Serrano, and Oli Placencia all scored in the first half to give LeTourneau a comfortable edge heading into halftime. Serrano ended the night with three points as he collected a goal and an assist.

Johnson's strike came in the ninth minute as Serrano earned the assist on the eventual game-winning score. The goal was Johnson's first of the year. Serrano then got in the scoring column with his first goal of the season in the 16th minute, assisted by Russell Gray, as the YellowJackets opened a 2-0 lead.

Placencia capped the opening half with his first goal of the year. In the 38th minute, the quick passing of Noah Garcia and Emad Mohamed found Placencia who converted on the chance to make it a 3-0 match.

LeTourneau held a 6-4 edge in shots in the first half, but controlled the pace of play from the start. For the match, the YellowJackets held an 18-10 advantage in total shots. Mohamed led all players with four shots taken, including three on target.

The LeTourneau defense was up to the task for a third straight contest. Raul Torrez made the start at the net, while Ethan Aiken played the entire second half as the two keepers combined for the clean sheet. Aiken recorded a pair of saves.

Emiliano Yanek made six saves for Texas College (0-2-1), all coming in the second half.
