LONGVIEW, Texas --
Nahum Serrano's first-half goal stood up and the LeTourneau men's soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to five with a 1-0 victory over Schreiner on Friday night at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.
LeTourneau (3-2-2) is 3-0-2 over its last five matches, which includes four shutouts.
Serrano gave LeTourneau the lead in the 32nd minute. After a near-goal on the Schreiner side, LeTourneau flipped the field and
Syed Zain won the ball in the box, crossed it in front of the net, and Serrano cleaned up the chance from a few yards out to make it 1-0.
The goal was Serrano's second of the year, while Zain collected his first assist.
That goal would stand up the rest of the way, despite Schreiner holding a 14-7 edge in total shots. The visiting Mountaineers took nine shots in the opening half, while LeTourneau limited the opposition to just five attempts in the second half.
LeTourneau played the final nine minutes down a man, but the defense thwarted the Schreiner attacking efforts.
Raul Torrez made two saves in his 90 minutes to earn the shutout.
Serrano,
Keaton Johnson, and
Russell Gray each took two shots to lead LeTourneau. Schreiner's Zaaron Gonzalez led all players with four shots. Schreiner keeper Kameryn Roehrig made two saves on the night.
