LONGVIEW, Texas --
Deonte Jackson had a game-high 30 points and the hot shooting of the LeTourneau men's basketball team continued as the YellowJackets downed McMurry, 96-85, in ASC action on Thursday night inside Solheim Arena.
It was Jackson's second 30-point game of the season, both coming against McMurry. Jackson went 10-of-18 from the field and 7-of-7 at the foul line to go along with seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
John Argue (19 points, 13 rebounds) and
Warren Richardson (17 points, 10 rebounds) both had double-doubles. Argue tied his career-high with 13 rebounds, while Richardson added four assists and three blocks in notching his sixth double-double of the year.
LeTourneau (8-9, 5-5 ASC) connected on 54.2 percent (32-of-59) from the field, marking the seventh straight game the YellowJackets have made at least 50 percent. LeTourneau hit seven 3-pointers and went 25-of-34 from the foul line to ice the game.
The YellowJackets led for over 35 minutes in the contest and used an 11-0 run in the first half to build a double-digit lead. Over a two-plus minute stretch at the end of the first half, LeTourneau used an 11-0 run to extend a one-point lead to 12 after an Argue free throw with 2:13 left in the period.Â
McMurry sliced into the lead, but the YellowJackets took a 43-35 margin into the break.
The visiting War Hawks quickly cut the margin to four (43-39) early in the second half before the YellowJackets took control again. Another Argue bucket extended the lead back to nine (54-45) and a Richardson layup with 12:34 left gave LeTourneau a 58-47 lead.
McMurry briefly trimmed the lead under double-digits, but LeTourneau had an answer each time. The YellowJackets' largest lead of the game (14) came with under a minute left in regulation.
Jackson Mayes added 15 points and two assists, while
Christian Adams had three assists. LeTourneau doled out 16 assists on 32 made field goals.
McMurry (4-12, 3-6 ASC) received 20 points and 13 rebounds from Elias Garcia, while Remy Minor had 19 points. The War Hawks shot just 37.8 percent (31-of-82) for the game and made 6-of-32 from behind the 3-point line.
