LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau volleyball team used its best attacking percentage of the season and put three players in double-digit kills to defeat Dallas, 3-1 (25-17, 20-25, 25-17, 25-14), in non-conference action on Tuesday night.
Kaci Monk had a season-high 16 kills and hit .464 in the match while
Faith Keating and
Yari Ortiz had 13 kills apiece in the win. LeTourneau (5-9) hit a season-high .270 with 55 kills on 137 attempts.
The win was the YellowJackets' third in the last four matches.
Monk added three blocks and five digs and Keating had a double-double with her 12 digs.
Reina Lawson totaled 48 assists with 11 digs, three blocks, and two aces in the win.
Allison Smith had the match-clinching kill and tallied eight on the night with four blocks.
Nora Lockhart also had four blocks as LeTourneau held an 8-4 advantage in that category.
Morgan Nix recorded 22 digs and
Hannah Payan had 15.
The YellowJackets got out to a 6-0 lead in the first set and never trailed. Payan had two aces during the opening stretch. A Keating kill, the 13th of the set for LeTourneau, gave the hosts a 25-17 set victory.
After a second-set win by Dallas (11-11), LeTourneau dominated the rest of the contest.
The YellowJackets hit .360 in the third set with 13 kills and pulled away for another 25-17 win. Smith and Keating had back-to-back kills to end the frame.
In the fourth, LeTourneau hit .382 with 16 kills and ended the match with consecutive kills from Smith and Keating, culminating in Smith's match-clincher.
LeTourneau totaled 73 points in the match, which included 10 aces, and had a 78-57 margin in digs.
Dallas got 11 kills from Cassie Dyoub and Isabel McKamey in the loss.
