LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau men's soccer team had its chances early and late in the match, but could not push across a goal as the YellowJackets played to a 0-0 draw with rival East Texas Baptist on Saturday night at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.
LeTourneau (4-4-4, 0-2-3 ASC) and ETBU (1-6-5, 0-4-1 ASC) have split the last 32 meetings since 1998 with 14 wins apiece and four draws.
The YellowJackets controlled the match throughout the first half with nine shots. Five of those attempts were put on target, including a good look from
Tyler Burks in the 18th minute and shots from
Bridger Roberdeau and
Caleb Nelson late in the half.
The script flipped for much of the second half as ETBU was the aggressor in the second 45 minutes.Â
LeTourneau survived a barrage of Tiger chances early in the second half, which included a pair
Raul Torrez saves in the first 10 minutes of the period. The YellowJackets had two chances late in the second half as Nelson got loose inside the box and got off an attempt past the keeper, but the ETBU back line cleared it off the goal line and Nelson's second attempt sailed over the crossbar.
ETBU had one last chance on target, but Torrez stood tall and made the save to preserve the tie.
Torrez made three saves as he collected his fourth shutout of the year. Anthony Lozada made six saves at the net for the Tigers.
LeTourneau outshot ETBU, 16-12, as Nelson took six attempts.
