BROWNWOOD, Texas -- The LeTourneau men's soccer team tied the match in the 81st minute, but host Howard Payne scored twice in the final seven-plus minutes to break away for a 3-1 victory over the YellowJackets on Friday afternoon in Brownwood.
The loss drops LeTourneau to 5-5-5 overall and 1-3-4 in ASC play.Â
Down 1-0 late in the second half, LeTourneau found the equalizer.
Emad Mohamed headed in a
Diego Enriquez free kick in the 81st minute to even the score at 1-1.
The goal was Mohamed's second of the year, both coming within the last two matches.
In a frantic final minutes, it was Howard Payne taking advantage of its opportunities. The host Yellow Jackets went back on top at 2-1 on Ethan Mauldin's score in the 83rd minute.Â
LeTourneau put together two set pieces in the last two minutes. On a corner kick, all players were brought into the box -- including keeper
Raul Torrez. Howard Payne gained possession off the corner and Brandon Osbourne dribbled into open space and scored on the empty net to complete the victory for the home side.
LeTourneau took 14 shots in the match, led by Mohamed's four and three each from Grayson Crawford and
Garrett Thom.
Torrez tallied four saves at the net. Brandon Padilla made five saves for Howard Payne (3-10-2, 2-4-1 ASC).
