Jordan's Career Night Lifts Women's Hoops Over Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. -- Haylee Jordan scored a career-high 23 points and a 12-0 run in the third quarter gave the LeTourneau women's basketball team the lead for good in a 59-53 victory at Centenary on Wednesday night.

Jordan recorded her second straight double-double as she totaled 10 rebounds to go with her career-best 23 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the field and added five blocks. Bailey Broughton came off the bench to score 14 points and dish out four assists as she and Jordan combined for 37 of the YellowJackets' 59 points.

LeTourneau (2-1) trailed at the half, 30-27, and found itself down by six midway through the third quarter. A Broughton 3-pointer with 6:20 left in the period sparked a 12-0 run over a five-minute stretch that handed the lead back to LeTourneau.

A Broughton steal led to a LaTerra Satcher fastbreak layup to even the score at 33 before another Broughton triple gave the Yellow Jackets a 36-33 lead with 2:40 left in the quarter. An old-fashioned three-point play from Future Asevedo capped the run and made it 39-33 with just over a minute left.

LeTourneau stretched the lead to seven (45-38) early in the fourth on a Jordan bucket. The fourth quarter turned into a show for Jordan as she scored 12 of LeTourneau's 20 points in the period.

The YellowJackets led by as many as nine in the fourth and free throws from Broughton in the final minute helped stave off a Centenary rally.

Ganae Gaines added eight points, six rebounds, and three assists in the victory and Kylie Weeks added six points.

LeTourneau shot 38.2 percent (21-of-55) from the field, but made 14-of-17 at the foul line to secure the win. Led by Jordan's 10 rebounds, the YellowJackets held a 41-35 edge on the boards.

Centenary (0-2) received 18 points from Amiyah Barrow and seven points and 10 rebounds from Alana Jones in the loss.
