LONGVIEW, Texas-- The LeTourneau women's basketball team could not get past No. 9/6 ranked Hardin-Simmons 70-51 at home on Thursday night.
Haylee Jordan marked her fifth double-double of the year with 14 rebounds and 12 points.
Ganae Gaines led the YellowJackets with 16 points, all in the second half. Gaines also tallied four steals.Â
As a team LeTourneau (2-5, 0-1 ASC) shot 35.6% from the field and 30.0% from beyond the arc.Â
Hardin-Simmons (5-0, 1-0 ASC), led by Paris Kiser who put up 16 points. The Cowgirls shot 42.4% from the field and 37.5% from beyond the arc.
LeTourneau outscored the Cowgirls 36-32 in the second period but it was not enough to overcome the 23-point halftime deficit.
The YellowJackets started the game with a quick 4-2 lead with a jumper from Bailey Broughton and Jordan before Hardin-Simmons jumped in front.
A fourth-quarter run started with a pair of jumpers from Future Asevedo and a couple of Gaines steals and layups brought the Jackets within 13 with 5:36 to play. The Cowgirls did hold on for there fifth straight win.

LeTourneau will be back at home on Saturday to face McMurry.
