Men's Basketball Drops Home Game to Pacific

LONGVIEW, Texas -- In a back-and-forth, high-scoring affair, the LeTourneau men's basketball team came up on the short end in a 92-86 loss to visiting Pacific on Saturday afternoon inside Solheim Arena.

It was the first all-time meeting between the two programs.

LeTourneau (6-5) was led by 32 points and five assists from Deonte Jackson. Jackson also added three steals and shot 12-of-23 from the floor and 6-of-6 from the free throw line as he collected his ninth career 30-point game. Christian Adams added 16 points and four assists while Caedmon Liebengood had a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Walker Blaine chipped in 13 points with three steals.

LeTourneau shot 54 percent (34-of-63) from the field and 13-of-17 from the free throw line.

The YellowJackets trailed by 10 (30-20) midway through the first half, but outscored the visiting Boxers 26-13 the rest of the half to take a 46-43 lead into the break. Jackson had 19 points in the first half and LeTourneau shot 56.7 percent in the opening period.

Jackson gave the YellowJackets a 59-57 lead with 14:05 left in the second half with his jumper, but that would be the final lead LeTourneau held the rest of the game. The contest saw eight ties and eight lead changes.

Pacific (4-5) led by six a couple of times later in the half. Isaac Stolzenburg buried a 3-pointer to get the YellowJackets within one (76-75) with 6:48 remaining.

LeTourneau trailed by two (88-86) with under 40 seconds left and had possession, but Jackson was off target on a 3-point attempt and Liebengood couldn't make the follow-up before the Boxers corralled the rebound and then secured the win at the free throw line.

Devin Fortune had 29 points and 10 rebounds for Pacific, while Lucas Winkler had a double-double of 16 points and 10 assists. The Boxers hit 50 percent (33-of-66) from the field with 11 3-pointers and doled out 20 assists.
