Dominating Second Half Leads Men's Hoops Past Millsaps

LONGVIEW, Texas -- Four players scored in double figures and the LeTourneau men's basketball team hit a season-high-tying 13 3-pointers in an 82-64 win over Millsaps on Saturday afternoon inside Solheim Arena.

Deonte Jackson led LeTourneau (7-5) with 22 points to go with four assists and four rebounds. Christian Adams had 16 points with five assists, four rebounds, and three blocks, while Caedmon Liebengood had 14 points and Alex Ferrell added 13 points and six rebounds.

Jackson hit four triples as LeTourneau made 13 3-pointers for the second time in the last four games. Overall, LeTourneau connected on 48.4 percent (30-of-62) from the field and made 9-of-11 at the foul line.

LeTourneau opened up a nine-point lead (46-37) at the half after making nine 3-pointers in the first half and shooting 51.6 percent (16-of-31). A Jackson 3-pointer four minutes into the game gave the YellowJackets the lead for good at 8-6. That 3-pointer sparked an 11-0 run for LeTourneau as the hosts extended the early lead to nine (16-7) after a Liebengood triple with 13 minutes left.

Millsaps (2-9) hung around and trimmed the margin to three later in the half, but the three-ball was working for the YellowJackets. Logan Brinkoeter connected on one late in the half and Adams drilled another 3-pointer in the final seconds to extend the lead back to nine at the break.

Brinkoeter finished with a season-high nine points and four rebounds off the bench.

In the second half, LeTourneau clamped down defensively and limited Millsaps to 31 percent shooting. The YellowJackets led by double-digits for much of the second half and used an 11-0 run late in the half to take their largest lead of the game at 25 (82-57).

Walker Blaine had a team-high eight rebounds and added three assists, while Branson Lynn contributed five points.

Millsaps was led by 19 points and eight rebounds from Devin Harris and 15 points from Cameron Lumar.

LeTourneau moved to 6-0 all-time against Millsaps, with five of the six games being decided by double digits.
