RICHARDSON, Texas -- LeTourneau's
Kiersten Reeser and
Julian Lee joined 20 graduating student-athletes from the 10 American Southwest Conference member institutions in being honored as 2022-23 ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor recipients.
The Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor is the highest honor one can achieve as an American Southwest Conference student-athlete. Presented by the Faculty Athletics Representatives, the Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor is awarded to one male and one female member of each member institution's graduating class who has compiled the most outstanding record in academics, athletics, and leadership over their collegiate career.
Reeser, from Dover, Pa., was a four-year standout on the LeTourneau women's soccer team. She was named ASC Goalkeeper of the Year in 2022 and became a three-time All-ASC selection. Reeser was an ASC Defensive Player of the Week selection during 2022. She finished career as the program's record holder for career saves and shutouts. Majoring in biomedical engineering with a 3.76 GPA, Reeser was a CSC Academic All-District honoree in 2022.
A two-time team captain for women's soccer, Reeser also led team devotionals and bible studies. She was a leader to the younger players offering guidance, support and prayer in all areas of the team. Reeser was involved in the LeTourneau community: 'GoWeek' Community Service Leader, Car Show Fundraiser for mission trips, Ministry trip participant to Utah to minister the LDS community, and many more. She also served the team by being the main person who did team laundry every day throughout the season.
Reeser was awarded the R.G. LeTourneau Legacy Award in April, the athletic department's top award given to a junior or senior student-athlete who displays Christian attitude and leadership in the classroom, on campus, in the community, and in their sport. All traits that were shown by the founder of the University, R.G. LeTourneau.
Lee, from Alburquerque, N.M., was a decorated player on the LeTourneau men's tennis team. A four-year member of the men's tennis team, Lee was the 2023 ASC Sportsmanship Athlete of the year for the East Division. He earned 2022 ASC East Most Valuable Player and earned All-ASC in doubles. In 2021, he won ASC Sportsmanship Athlete of the year East Division. Lee is a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and once on ASC Academic All-Conference. He was a six-time All-ASC honoree between singles and doubles and a six-time ASC weekly award winner. He also was 2022 Ojai West Regional Tournament doubles champion.
Lee was a founding member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and teaching leader, and member of regionally recognized senior design project team. Majoring in mechanical engineering, Lee had a 3.79 GPA and earned CSC Academic All-District honors in 2023. Lee was named the LeTourneau Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2022-23.
Recipients of the 2022-23 ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor represent 11 different conference sports. These individuals have earned academic honors, were accepted to graduate-level programs, are members of academic honor societies and campus organizations; competed on conference title teams; earned Academic All-America, ASC All-Academic, Distinguished Scholar-Athlete and All-Conference honors; and who served as volunteers, tutors and mentors within the campus and community.
