ROUND ROCK, Texas -- The LeTourneau men's soccer team could not slow down Concordia Texas in a 6-1 loss on Thursday night in the ASC opener in Round Rock.
The loss snapped a four-match unbeaten streak for LeTourneau (4-3-1, 0-1 ASC).
Caleb Nelson had the lone goal for the YellowJackets as he found the back of the net in the 60th minute, assisted by
Garrett Thom, to slice the deficit to 4-1 at the time. The goal was Nelson's fourth of the year, which is tied for the team lead with
Axel Pangni.
Concordia (2-5-1, 1-0 ASC) got on the board first as Jesse Garfias scored twice in the first half and Paul Claffey added one of his own for the Tornados to grab a 3-0 lead into halftime. In the second half, Marco Rodriguez Jr., Leo Lopez, and Johnathan De La Torre all added goals to add to the margin.
Raul Torrez made a career-high 14 saves as he faced 35 shots on the night. Brock Hendrickson made four saves for Concordia.
Six different YellowJackets took one shot apiece in the defeat.
