CLARKSVILLE, Ark. -- A nine-point halftime deficit was erased with 57 percent shooting and nine 3-pointers in the final 20 minutes as the LeTourneau men's basketball team stormed back for an 86-75 win at Ozarks in ASC play on Thursday night.
The win was the fourth straight for LeTourneau (10-5, 5-2 ASC). The YellowJackets have won all four games by double-digits and have scored 80-plus points in five straight games overall.
Trailing by nine (42-33) at the half, LeTourneau caught fire from the field in the second half. The YellowJackets outscored Ozarks 53-33 while shooting 57.9 percent (22-of-38) with nine 3-pointers (9-of-16).
Deonte Jackson scored 16 of his team-high 21 points in the second half and
Walker Blaine scored 16 of his 20 points on the night in the period. Jackson reached 1,500 career points in the win as he poured in 21 points and four steals. Blaine scored his 20 points with four 3-pointers, including two straight midway through the half that gave LeTourneau a two-point lead.
Caedmon Liebengood,
Christian Adams, and
Teigan Edwards all had 12 points apiece. Liebengood registered his fifth double-double of the year with 13 rebounds. Adams flirted with a triple-double as he tallied nine rebounds and eight assists with four steals. Edwards handed out four assists.
Jackson opened the second half with a 3-pointer and scored the first seven points for the YellowJackets to get the guests within 43-40 with 18:27 left in the game. He later tied the game with a 3-pointer and gave LeTourneau a 59-57 with a driving layup at the 10:57 mark.
After Ozarks went back ahead by four (63-59), Blaine buried back-to-back 3-pointers to give LeTourneau the lead for good.
The 11-point spread was the largest lead the YellowJackets held on the night.
For the game, LeTourneau shot 52.9 percent (36-of-68) from the field and made 11-of-27 from 3-point land. It was the fourth straight game the YellowJackets have made double-digit 3-pointers. LeTourneau also turned 15 Ozarks giveaways into 23 points.
Ozarks (6-8, 1-5 ASC) got 23 points from Tim Eldridge and 15 points from Timquorian Johnson in the loss. The Eagles shot 46.2 percent (30-of-65) for the game and only 6-of-23 from deep.
