Women's Hoops Falls at UT Dallas

RICHARDSON, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's basketball team could not overcome a big second quarter from host UT Dallas in a 79-57 ASC loss on Saturday afternoon.

LeTourneau (5-11, 2-6 ASC) got a career-high 11 points from Allie Buchanan as she also grabbed six rebounds. Bailey Broughton was the other YellowJacket in double-figure scoring with a team-high 12 points and three assists. 

Buchanan scored nine points in the opening period and her layup with 2:15 left in the period, assisted by Broughton, had the YellowJackets within 14-11. 

UT Dallas (11-4, 4-3 ASC) went on a 12-0 scoring run to finish the first and carried that momentum into the second quarter. The Comets led for all but 45 seconds of the contest and never trailed.

Ganae Gaines added eight points off the bench with four rebounds, while Lacie Williams snagged a team-high nine rebounds and had two blocks. LaTerra Satcher and Kylie Weeks each had three assists as the YellowJackets had 15 helpers on 18 made field goals.

UT Dallas had three players scored in double-figures led by 16 points from Addy Self. Cierra Trigg added 15 points and Alex Bowman had 12 points. The Comets hit nine 3-pointers and shot 42.9 percent (30-of-70) from the field overall.

LeTourneau made 18-of-22 at the free throw line and held a 36-34 rebounding edge.

LeTourneau remains on the road next Thursday to face McMurry in Abilene (5:30 p.m.)
