Men's Soccer Downed by UT Dallas on the Road

RICHARDSON, Texas -- After a scoreless first half, host UT Dallas scored three second-half goals to defeat the LeTourneau men's soccer team, 3-0, on Saturday night in Richardson.

The match does not count towards ASC standings as UT Dallas is in its transition to NCAA Division II.

The loss for LeTourneau (4-4-4) snapped a three-match unbeaten streak.

A new starting 11 for LeTourneau held together in the opening half and limited UT Dallas to only four shots. Of the 11 starters for the YellowJackets, nine were making their first starts of the season.

Carson Gamble made his first career start at the net and made one save in the first half.

UT Dallas (8-1-2) broke the scoreless match early in the second half. Riley O'Donnell scored his eighth goal of the year in the 54th minute when his corner kick curved into the net. Just 17 seconds later, Hamza Syed got beyond the LeTourneau defense and buried his chance to make it 2-0.

In the 57th minute, Carson Burden scored from distance as the host Comets opened up a 3-0 lead.

LeTourneau had its best chance to score in the 62nd minute. Jordan Beltran's penalty kick attempt was saved on a diving effort from UT Dallas keeper Anthony Alston to keep the YellowJackets off the board.

Four different players (Beltran, Emad Mohamed, Caleb Nelson, Jonas Coyle) had shot attempts in the second half.

Gamble made six saves in his 72-plus minutes at the net. Octavio Jacquez totaled one save in the final 17-plus minutes. Alston made two saves.
