MARSHALL, Texas -- The LeTourneau men's soccer team traveled to face conference rival East Texas Baptist (8-7-1, 3-3-1 ASC) on Saturday to end a long road trip, suffering a tough 5-1 loss.
Late in the game being down 5-0 LeTourneau utilized the opportunity to give some of their freshman game experience.
Patrick Bauer made the most of the opportunity scoring his first career goal. Bauer notched his goal in the 86th minute, making the most of just 26 minutes of playing time.
The game started out a defensive battle as neither team was able to find the back of the net. However, the game would not remain scoreless for long as the Tigers scored a pair of first half goals, one off the foot of Joel Garcia in the 29th minute. The other in the 39th minute off the foot of Ian Ebarb. Camara Martinez recorded a pair of first half saves battling to keep the game close.
The home Tigers came out of the locker room hot scoring two quick goals to open the second half. Looking for a spark the YellowJackets swapped goalkeepers bringing in
Carson Gamble.
Gamble gathered a pair of saves for the YellowJackets in 44 minutes between the posts. Lopez and Wenzel also notched goals for the Tigers.
