Men's Soccer Falls to UT Dallas

LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau men's soccer team returned home for their first home match in nearly two weeks, falling to UT Dallas, 5-0, on Thursday evening inside the Joyce Family Athletic Village.

LeTourneau moves to 4-7-5 (1-3-3 ASC), while UT Dallas improves to 12-1-2.

Octavio Jacquez tallied his second career start for the YellowJackets, recording one save in 45 minutes of action.

The first half began slowly, with both teams playing solid defense and preventing one another from garnering scoring opportunities. The first goal was scored in the 18th minute by the Comets' Jacob Culpepper, getting UT Dallas out to a 1-0 lead.

The defenses then reigned supreme for the majority of the half until Riley O'Donnell scored in the 45th minute to give the Comets a 2-0 lead at the break.

Joaquin Sanchez then made his first collegiate appearance in the second half, getting the nod to start in goal at the beginning of the half. He played the entirety of the half, gathering in two saves.

Cayden Cashburn (52'), Carson Burden (61'), and O'Donnell (90') were responsible for UT Dallas' final three goals of the match.

The YellowJackets fired four total shots, with Tyler Burks (2), Ethan Carrillo (1), and Nathan Peterson (1) each showcasing some offensive prowess. Peterson's attempt was the best scoring chance of the match, but his shot drifted just wide to the left of the post.
