Men's Hoops Falls in Exhibition Game at Stephen F. Austin

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The LeTourneau men's basketball team traveled to take on Stephen F. Austin in their first of two exhibition games, falling with a final score of 87-68.

The game opened with a competitive start with both teams shooting the ball well. After a quick five point run the home Lumbejacks found themselves with a five point advantage with 12 minutes remaining in the half. This slim advantage would not last long as the YellowJackets came surging back to take a nine point lead, which would be LeTourneau's largest lead of the game.

Key to the YellowJackets 14 point run was Walker Blaine, Cooper Smith, Alex Bossinakis, and Teigan Edwards. Blaine knocked down two key 3-pointers, Smith followed suit hitting a pair of 3-pointers, Bossinakis contributed a mid-range jump shot, and a long ball of his own, and Edwards was key in facilitating the run notching a pair of assists.

Battling back and forth for the remainder of the half LeTourneau ended the half trailing by just seven.

Keeping the deficit to single digits for the majority of the second half the YellowJackets gave the LumberJacks a scare, but ultimately Stephen F. Austin was able to win the exhibition game by a margin of 19 points.

The leading scorers for LeTourneau were Bossinakis with 15 points knocking down half of his shots going 4-of-8 from the field. Second was Caedmon Libengood who tallied 14 points going 5-of-11 from the field. Rounding out the top three was Blaine who recorded 13 points going 4-of-9 from the field.

As a team LeTourneau was 22-of-58 from the field (37.9 percent), 10-of-28 from three (36.36 percent), and 14-of-19 from the free throw line (73.7 percent).
