Efficient 3-Point Shooting Leads Men's Hoops to Road Win

WILMORE, Ky. -- The LeTourneau men's basketball team shot an efficient 40.7 percent from behind the arc, leading them to an 83-75 road win over Asbury.

Taking on Asbury for the first time in program history LeTourneau walked a way with an important road victory.

The win moves LeTourneau to 1-1 on the year, while with the loss Asbury falls to 0-3 on the year.

LeTourneau opened the game struggling to shoot the ball, not hitting a shot for the first two minutes and quickly falling to a 9-0 deficit. Finally breaking the cold streak was Deonte Jackson who barreled toward the rim on a fast-break and earned a trip to the free throw line hitting the first, and missing the second. On the very next possession the YellowJackets continued to get into a rhythm as Connor Miller knocked down a mid-range jump shot.

Late in the first half the YellowJackets went on a key run, a six minute stretch in which LeTourneau outscored Asbury 16-5. Leading the Jackets on this run were two seniors Caedmon Liebengood, and Jackson who scored nine of the points on this run.

Jackson tallied 21 of his 24 points in the first half. He and Liebengood notched 29 of LeTourneau's 39 first half points.

Once LeTourneau took the lead late in the first half they never gave it back, leading for the entirety of the second half.

Hamilton Hamm notched a career high 13 points providing a spark off the bench for LeTourneau.

Cooper Smith tallied a season high 11 points.

Key for LeTourneau was the lack of turnovers, as they only turned the ball over five times in the game. They were also able to capitalize on turnovers committed by Asbury, generating 17 points off of turnovers.

The scoring leaders for the YellowJackets were, Jackson with 24 points, Liebengood with 19 points, and Hamm with 13 points.
