HOUSTON, Texas -- The LeTourneau men's basketball team opened the 2024-25 campaign with an 85-70 loss at St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon at the Jerabeck Activity Center.

The first half got off to a competitive start with both teams swapping baskets. It appeared to be a game where whoever had the ball last was going to win, with LeTourneau knocking down 48.2 percent of their first half attempts. St. Thomas hit 46.7 percent of their first half shots. 

Starting off the second half on a hot streak St. Thomas was able to jump out to a twenty one  point lead. LeTourneau quickly rallied cutting the deficit to just eleven. 

Leading the second half comeback effort was Walker Blaine, and Alex Bossinakis. Blaine drilled a key 3-point shot and shortly after drew a foul driving to the basket, then knocked down a pair of free throws. Bossinakis made his impact on the defensive end, showcasing active hands on defense to help him come up with a couple of steals in this comeback stretch. 

The scoring leaders for the YellowJakcets were Deonte Jackson, Caedmon Libengood, and Blaine. Jackson tallied 19 points going 7-of-13 from the field, Libengood scored 17 on an efficient 6-of-9 from the field, and Blaine notched 10 going 3-of-4 from the field. 

LeTourneau received key contributions from their bench with it being the source of 17 of their points. 

The YellowJackets went 22-of-51 from the field (43.1 percent), 7-of-20 from three (35 percent), and 19-of-28 from the free throw line (67.9) percent.
