STEPHENVILLE, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's basketball team played its second exhibition of the season at a Division I foe as the YellowJackets fell to Tarleton State, 99-34, on Saturday morning inside Wisdom Gym.
LeTourneau also played at East Texas A&M in an exhibition earlier this season. The game was a regular season contest for Tarleton (5-5).
The YellowJackets hung in during the first quarter as a
Mariana Espinosa layup on LeTourneau's first possession tied the game at 2-2. The host Texans extended the lead to double-digits later in the first, but a
Kylie Weeks jumper with 2:05 left in the period got the YellowJackets within 20-11.
Tarleton scored the final six points of the quarter and the lead stayed in double-figures the rest of the way.
Espinosa had 12 points and a block to lead the way for LeTourneau. Weeks added five points with three rebounds and two assists, while
Savannah Scruggs also chipped in five points off the bench.
Five players scored in double-figures for Tarleton led by Grace Booth's 15 points and 13 rebounds. Arieona Rosborough, a transfer from UMHB, scored 10 points with six rebounds and four assists.
UP NEXT
LeTourneau returns to regular season action with a two-game homestand. The YellowJackets host Arlington Baptist on Dec. 13 (6 p.m.) and Austin College on Dec. 16 (5 p.m.).
