Men's Soccer Downed at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. -- The LeTourneau men's soccer team concluded its early season Michigan road trip with a 7-0 loss at Hope on Saturday night at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

LeTourneau drops to 0-2 on the year. It was the first-ever meeting on the pitch between LeTourneau and Hope.

The early season position battle continued in the net as the match featured two different goalkeepers for the YellowJackets. Octavio Jacquez started the match recording a pair of saves in his 45 minutes of action. Jacquez was relieved after his first half action, as Carson Gamble started the second half tallying four saves in his 45 minutes of action. Both Jacquez and Gamble played their first career minutes as YellowJackets in the match.  

Hope split up the scoring evenly finding the back of the net three times in the first half with a goal from Evan Morrison, and two from Jack Mindling. In the second half, Hope scored on four occasions with goals from Seth Walters, Ryker Constange, and two from Thomas DeVries.

Carson Watts earned his first action for LeTourneau playing 36 minutes in the match. He recorded a shot for the YellowJackets in his first collegiate action. 

Caleb Nelson forced the Hope keeper Daniel Hesselbein to make a save early in the second half. As he fired a shot toward the top of the net. Emad Mohamed also recorded a second half shot in the match.

LeTourneau continues the early season road trip, as they square off with Belhaven Sept. 5 at 4 p.m.
