JACKSON, Miss. --
Edson Camara Martinez registered nine saves and the LeTourneau men's soccer team picked up its first shutout of the season with a 0-0 draw at Belhaven on Thursday afternoon in Jackson.
It was the second straight scoreless tie between LeTourneau (0-2-1) and Belhaven (1-0-2) in Jackson after the teams played a similar match in 2022.
Camara Martinez produced a career-high nine saves to tally his first collegiate clean sheet. He made four saves in the opening half and then tallied five in the second half.
The LeTourneau defense and Camara Martinez withstood a strong challenge from the host Blazers. Belhaven took 16 shots over the final 45 minutes, but was unable to find the back of the net, thanks to Camara Martinez and the rest of the YellowJacket back line.
LeTourneau was able to get two good looks in the final five minutes of the match. Following a yellow card on Belhaven keeper Danny Behena,
Emad Mohamed put one on frame in the 85th minute only for Behena to make the save.Â
Following consecutive LeTourneau corner kicks,
Caleb Nelson had a look but missed high in the 86th minute.
LeTourneau finished with eight shots in the match as Mohamed, Nelson, and
Jonas Coyle each had two apiece. The YellowJackets also tallied seven corner kicks.
Diego Sarzalejo led Belhaven with five shots, two on goal.
