JACKSON, Miss. -- After dropping the first set, the LeTourneau volleyball team rolled past Centenary in the final three sets to earn a 3-1 (24-26, 25-13, 25-17, 25-17) victory in the finale of the Millsaps Invitational in Jackson.
LeTourneau (5-6) finished the weekend with back-to-back wins.
The YellowJackets dropped the opening frame, but bounced back to cruise to the win.
Yari Ortiz had 11 kills while
Hannah Payan,
Kaci Monk, and
Nora Lockhart all had eight apiece. Monk also added a team-high four blocks and Lockhart added three of her own.
Ashlyn Walther added six kills and six digs.
Reina Lawson concluded a strong weekend with 18 assists, six aces, and four digs.
Morgan Nix registered 20 digs in the victory.
LeTourneau used an efficient attack over the final three sets to complete the win. The YellowJackets hit .303 as a unit in set two with 14 kills, then had nine kills and a .250 hitting percentage in the third before having a robust .545 mark in the fourth with 14 kills.
LeTourneau only briefly trailed early in the final three sets and used big runs in each frame to pull away for the victory.
Centenary (0-6) got nine kills from Alyssa Gatlin, 25 assists from Kristi Hinze, and 12 digs from Charlie Wedding in the loss.
