Volleyball Finishes Strong in Two-Match Slate

IRVING, Texas -- LeTourneau volleyball finished Saturday afternoon's two-match slate 1-1, falling to Austin College 3-1 (17-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-16) in the first match, but rebounding to defeat Dallas 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-18).

LeTourneau moves to 6-8, while Austin College improves to 9-5 and Dallas falls to 0-13, respectively.

Leading the charge in the statistical categories, Kaci Monk had 14 kills, Reina Lawson collected 20 assists, Allison Smith tallied 5 blocks, and Maddy Hirneise notched 18 digs.

Following a tough loss in the first match of the day, the YellowJackets needed to reassemble and focus on the upcoming match against Dallas.

They were focused.

The second set was a closer affair, but the YellowJackets came through when it mattered most, forcing an attack error to take the set 25-23.

One set away from a sweep, LeTourneau made sure it went no further, scoring four straight points to win the set and match 25-18, with Kaci Monk, Allison Smith and a couple more forced errors by the defense the difference.

In other notable statistical news, TJ Folse paced the Kangaroos with 14 kills and 16 digs, while Reagan Aponte had 15 assists for the Crusaders.
