LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's basketball team was tripped up by conference foe Hardin-Simmons, 84-67, on Saturday afternoon inside Solheim Arena.
LeTourneau falls to 7-10 (1-1 ASC) on the season, while Hardin-Simmons -- ranked No. 14 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 and No. 12 in the WBCA Top 25 -- improves to 15-2 (1-1 ASC).
The YellowJackets battled back and forth with the visiting Cowgirls. As they ended the first quarter deadlocked at 20. Hardin-Simmons was able to lay the foundation of its lead in the second quarter as the Copwgirls went on an 11-0 run to open the quarter and build a double-digit lead that would ultimately be the difference in the game.
Despite posting a valiant comeback effort the YellowJackets were unable to close the gap that was created in the first half.
Future Asevedo posted a career high 22 points, this was also her first collegiate performance with 20 or more points. As previously she held a career-high of 18 points.
