SUWANEE, Ga. -- Clarissa Martinez, a senior on the LeTourneau women's soccer team from Richwood, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning September 29.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community. The SCAC recognizes two male student-athletes and two female student-athletes annually from each member institution for the Character & Community honor.

On the pitch, Martinez has played in 57 career matches – making 56 starts – and has logged field time in every single minute of the 2025 season. A standout on the back line, she has helped LeTourneau to six shutouts on the year as the YellowJackets are off to one of the program's best starts.

For her team, Martinez is much more than her ability on the field. The senior has been a team captain and a constant voice of leadership and encouragement throughout her career.

As much as she excels on the field, Martinez is equally impressive in the classroom. She is a three-time academic all-conference honoree and collected College Sports Communicators Academic All-District in 2024. She also lends her expertise as an academic tutor on campus.

Martinez has been involved in her local church and has served as a representative for LeTourneau's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

"She exemplifies the true spirit of the SCAC Character & Community Award through her unwavering leadership, integrity, and selfless dedication both on and off the field," said LeTourneau head women's soccer coach Karrigan Falber. "She leads by example, uplifting her teammates with compassion and grit, while actively engaging in community service and campus initiatives. Clarissa's commitment to excellence and positive impact makes her a standout role model and a deserving nominee for this honor."
