IRVING, Texas -- LeTourneau volleyball took care of business on the road, downing the Dallas Crusaders in a 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-21) sweep.
Kaylyn Taylor and
Emma Smith (.333) led the YellowJackets with nine kills apiece. Taylor added ten digs in the contest.
Amya Orn had a season-high five kills in the Friday night sweep.
Logan Lear led the way with 13 digs, while
Emily Mullin dropped her seventh double-double of the campaign, with 21 assists and 12 digs.
Mullin and
Nora Lockhart stuffed four attacks each, and LeTourneau served up 12 aces as a team in the contest.
A string of runs in the first set gave LeTourneau a slight 9-8, before a 16-5 run by the YellowJackets shut down any hope for the Crusaders. The set was iced by an
Ashlyn Walther ace, one of her two on the night.
The second set saw a similar result, although in a different fashion. LeTourneau (12-7, 4-3 SCAC) only had one run of four points in the set, but with each point Dallas (1-18, 0-8 SCAC) would collect, the YellowJackets would answer with two or three points every single time, resulting in a 25-16 set victory.
The third and final set would be much more competitive. A whirlwind of momentum saw multiple runs by both teams, and with a tight 20-19 lead, Dallas looked to steal a set.
However, the YellowJackets took six of the next seven points, and once again, a Walther ace put the icing on the cake.
The Crusaders were led by Mary Mehan, with seven kills and five blocks.
