SUWANEE, Ga. -- A junior from Magnolia, Texas, and a biology major,
Austin Jett has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Character and Community Male Student Athlete of the Week for the week beginning October 13.
The SCAC Character and Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics and serve their campus and community.
Jett has been a three-year member of the LeTourneau men's cross country and track programs. He was part of a program-record 4x800 time in track and field last spring and set multiple personal records in the same season. Despite suffering an injury that held him back for cross country in 2024, Jett returned to the trails this season and has competed in all three meets.
Jett serves the LeTourneau campus and the community in a number of ways. At LeTourneau, he assists academics as a tutor, lab grader, and lab assistant in the biology and chemistry departments. Jett has been a part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) program at LeTourneau. He also assists the athletic communications team on game days as a camera operator and broadcast assistant.
In the community, Jett has served with East Texas Food Bank and with his church. In his hometown, Jett volunteered as a high school cross country coach and a youth soccer coach with the YMCA.
Jett is a three-time academic all-conference selection and collected College Sports Communicators Academic All-District for track and field in 2024-25.

Kevin Gideon. "I have seen him grow in his character and leadership over the last three years. From being involved with FCA to helping encourage teammates through workouts, he works hard and cares about those around him."
