Golf Teams Soar in First Scoreboard/Clippd Rankings

LONGVIEW, Texas -- In the first batch of national rankings from Scoreboard/Clippd, both LeTourneau golf teams are rated inside the top-50 and three individuals are ranked in the top 100.

The LeTourneau men are ranked No. 20, while the women are at No. 43 in the initial rankings. In men's individual rankings, Owen Prewitt is 24th and Rafa Torres is 50th. Kinley Pessel is No. 31 in the women's individual rankings.

The YellowJacket men, also currently ranked No. 15 in the Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches' Top 25, finished 10th at the Golfweek October Classic. LeTourneau has two tournaments wins -- earning top finishes at the Energy Weldfab Tempest Intercollegiate and the Carla Spenkoch Invitational -- and has a team scoring average of 290.25.

Prewitt and Torres have led the team through the fall season. Both of them tied for first at the Energy Weldfab Tempest Intercollegiate, with Torres outlasting Prewitt in the playoff. Prewitt leads the team with a 71.67 scoring average and two top-10 finishes to go with seven rounds at par or better. Torres is second on the team with a 72.17 scoring average and two top-10 placements.

Torres, Noah Summers, and Corbin King have earned SCAC Golfer of the Week honors during the fall. Summers earned a win at the Jacksonville College Classic and has two rounds of 66 on the year.

The YellowJacket women earned a team title at the Energy Weldfab Tempest Intercollegiate and set program records for low round and low tournament scores in the victory. LeTourneau placed 17th at the Golfweek October Classic and also had a fourth-place finish at the California State Intercollegiate. The women ended the fall with a 319.67 scoring average.

Pessel has paced the YellowJackets in all three tournaments she has played in. Ranked No. 31 in the nation, Pessel has two tournament wins -- Energy Weldfab Tempest Intercollegiate and the California State Intercollegiate. She set program records twice for low tournament scored (3-under) and has shot at par or better four times.

Pessel has already garnered two SCAC Golfer of the Week honors.

To go along with Pessel's strong play, Emerson Swanner is second on the team with a 79.89 scoring average and two top-10 finishes. Hannah Newell holds an 80.78 scoring average across nine rounds and one top-10.

Both LeTourneau teams will be back in action in the spring.
