Men's Soccer Draws Schreiner 1-1 on the Road

KERRVILLE, Texas -- The LeTourneau men's soccer team battled Schreiner for a 1-1 draw on Friday evening at the Mountaineer Soccer Field.

The draw moves the YellowJackets to 1-3-5 (0-1-2, SCAC) on the season, while the Mountaineers move to 2-8-2 (1-1-1, SCAC) on the year.

LeTourneau jumped out to an early lead scoring in the 17th minute and taking a 1-0 lead. The scoring chance was generated by Jeffrey Boedeker attacking down the sideline and firing a crisp crossing pass into the box. Once the ball was in the box it was one touched by Henry Shore, and then ripped into the net off the left foot of Karsten Guerra. This marked the second goal of the season for Guerra, and ties him for the team lead.

The however, would not last for long as Schreiner would tie things up on a penalty kick goal later in the first half. Bryan Plascencia scored on a penalty kick goal to tie the match 1-1 in the 42nd minute.

After both teams notched a goal in the first half neither would find the back of the net in the second, as the Keepers kept the offenses at bay. Edson Camara Martinez snatched four saves for the YellowJackets, three of which came in the first half.

LeTourneau generated their best second half scoring chance in the 78th minute on a powerful shot from the right foot of Caleb Nelson. Nelson fired this shot from the top of the box after receiving a pin point pass from Boedeker, unfortunately a diving stop by Houston Shuman would prevent the YelowJackets from taking the lead. Schuman collected seven saves for the Moutaineers.

Nelson, Shore, Bridge Mwambukiri, and Diego Enriquez all logged shots on goal for the YellowJackets.
