Volleyball Sweeps Dallas on Senior Day

LONGVIEW, Texas-- LeTourneau volleyball honored seven seniors inside Solheim Arena on Sunday afternoon following its 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-6) sweep of the Dallas Crusaders.

The honorees included Kaylyn Taylor, Emma Smith, Meghan Womack, Grace Talkington, Amya Orn, Kylee Marksberry, and Aubree McCann. These seven contributed both on and off the floor for the team, including the success seen this year, which is one of the best in program history.

The YellowJackets exploded offensively, hitting an absurd .330 as a team, led by Smith with 11 kills (.563), McCann with nine kills (.353), Womack with nine kills (.318), and Emily Mullin with five kills on 10 swings and no errors.

Talkington and Hailee Perry threw out 17 assists each in the win, Taylor led the match with 16 digs, and Orn led the match with four rejections at the net.

McCann (2), Womack (2), Perry (1), Taylor (1), and Orn (1) all contributed to the team's seven service aces.

LeTourneau (17-11, 8-7 SCAC) opened up the match on an emphatic 13-2 run. This created an insurmountable lead, and the YellowJackets would handily take the opening set.

Dallas (2-24, 1-13 SCAC) made it much more interesting in the second set, though.

After a 3-3 knot at the start of the set, the Crusaders would go on a 17-7 run, including multiple five-point runs within it. Dallas led 20-10, and it seemed as if a fourth set was inevitable.

However, LeTourneau would answer with authority.

The YellowJackets would take 15 of the next 16 points, capped off by four straight kills by the likes of Orn, Womack, and Mullin, as the Jackets won the set 25-21.

As the YellowJackets sought to finalize the sweep, the third set would once again open with a 3-3 tie.

This would not deter the Jackets, though, as they would rattle off 22 of the final 25 points in the match, including a pair of five-point runs, and the final 11 in a row.

McCann would serve those 11 points and end the match, as she should, on a service ace.

The Crusaders were led by Andrea Zavaleta-Vega with five kills and a block.
