LONGVIEW, Texas -- Four YellowJackets contributed double-digit figures in the points column, but the team effort was not enough, as LeTourneau women's basketball fell to the Millsaps Majors 76-67 inside Solheim Arena on Thursday night.
Robbi Martinez led the way with a career-high 16 points, while tacking on four boards.
Kylie Weeks matched her 16 points, on a perfect 9-of-9 from the charity stripe, along with five rebounds and four swipes.
Mariana Espinosa followed with 13 points, and
Sallie Moser had a season-best 10 points off the bench.
Makenzie Covey led the squad with eight rebounds.
LeTourneau (2-7) fell early to the Majors after a 10-2 run to open the contest. This led to Millsaps (8-2) leading 28-14 at the end of the first quarter.
The YellowJackets found the basket well after that, scoring 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting in the second quarter. However, the Majors matched with 21 of their own.
Down 18 with 5:21 remaining in the third, the YellowJackets found their groove. An Espinosa 3-pointer would ignite a 19-5 run lasting over 10 minutes, bringing the YellowJackets within four with just under five minutes to go.Â
The comeback would be stymied by three straight Major baskets, holding off LeTourneau just enough to secure the victory.
Tia Anderson led Millsaps with 25 points, followed by Elyse Warren contributing 16 points and 20 rebounds.
