Women's Basketball Falls in Home Regular Season Finale

LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's basketball team could not overcome a strong UT Dallas team in an 83-33 loss in the home regular season finale on Saturday inside Solheim Arena.

The game did not count for LeTourneau (8-16) in the ASC standings as UT Dallas (16-6) moves to Division II.

LeTourneau will have one more home game later this season when the YellowJackets host an ASC Tournament quarterfinal on Feb. 25. LeTourneau clinched the No. 4 seed in the tournament and will face No. 5 seed Howard Payne.

On Saturday, the YellowJackets struggled to find the range from the field. UT Dallas got out to a 10-0 lead, but LeTourneau cut the margin to five (16-11) after a Sallie Moser bucket with 3:42 left in the first quarter.

UT Dallas outscored the YellowJackets 25-4 the rest of the first half to take a commanding lead into the break and extended that into the second half.

Brooklyn Iman had seven points to lead LeTourneau as she went 3-of-4 from the field. Moser scored six points. Sara Savage pulled down six rebounds.

Four players scored in double figures for UT Dallas led by 13 from Ellery Sample. The Comets shot 49.2 percent (30-of-61) from the field and 19-of-24 from the foul line.
