MY LETU STORY: Elizabeth Moreau

NOTE: This is part of a series on letuathletics.com with feature stories written by senior student-athletes, or in their final year, about their time at LeTourneau and the impact it has made on them.

The past three years at LeTourneau have been some of the best and quickest years by far.

As a LeTourneau YellowJacket, I have been blessed with great relationships both academically and athletically. Professors, coaches, teammates, and lifelong friendships have been a huge part of my time here that I had no idea would be shaping me.

When people ask me why I came to LeTourneau, I usually tell them that I never planned on becoming a YellowJacket. My older brother attended and graduated from LeTourneau, and every time I visited him during his time as a student here, I thought this school was not for me. I vividly remember praying before my school visit, asking that the Lord would make it clear to me where He wanted me to pursue my college career.

During my official school tour, Dr. Bob Roller from the Business school told me that he felt like God was calling me here. It couldn’t have been clearer to me, so I decided to listen and trust in God’s calling. That was only the beginning of my experience.

My experience as a LeTourneau YellowJacket went way beyond the matches and everyday life as a student-athlete trying to balance school and the sport.

Looking back at the past three years as part of the women’s tennis team has not only brought some amazing experiences and challenges as a student-athlete, but more importantly it has given me the best friendships. Tennis may seem like an individual sport, but it really takes the entire team to win a match. Beyond that, I would say our entire team is like a family and looks after each other both on and off the court. The team camaraderie is unexplainable to anyone who hasn’t experienced it for themselves.

While my time as a student-athlete has been full of challenges and victories, it has been equally transformative in the classroom and my walk in faith. In the classroom, I have been blessed with some amazing professors who have shown me what it truly looks like to walk with the Lord. They have not only prepared me for a Bachelor’s degree, but have poured wisdom into me that goes further than my time as a LeTourneau student. They have shown me through their mentorship what it means to pursue a career in the business world as a Christian.

My two biggest blessings from my time here at LeTourneau have been the friendships from my sport and the professors who have constantly prayed for me. The people who have poured into me are truly special and I am grateful that I got to experience such a great community both on and off the court.

As I look forward to this next chapter of my life, I am confident that my experience at LeTourneau, shaped by both academics and athletics, will continue to guide me as I pursue my career and continue to walk with the Lord.
