SUWANEE, Ga. -- Two LeTourneau student-athletes were named to SCAC Winter All-Sportsmanship teams, announced the conference on Friday.
LeTourneau honorees included
Makenzie Covey (women's basketball) and
Cooper Smith (men's basketball).
Since the inaugural All-Sportsmanship teams were honored in the fall of 2008, the SCAC has recognized over 2,500 student-athletes who each, in his or her own way, has displayed the league's core belief in the value of honorable conduct. For this year's selections, each conference head coach was asked to elect one member from his or her team who displayed good sportsmanship throughout the season.
Covey, a junior from Axtell, Texas, averaged a career-high 6.8 points and 4.4 rebounds in 24 games this season. She had a career-high 24 points with nine rebounds and three assists at Belhaven on Nov. 22, and had six double-digit scoring games on the year. Covey earned CSC Academic All-District honors for her work on the court and the classroom.
Smith, a sophomore from Heath, Texas, started 19 of his 24 games played this season. The sophomore averaged career-bests in nearly every statistical category, averaging 7.1 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, and had 30 steals on the season. He also earned CSC Academic All-District accolades.
