IRVING, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's basketball team could not keep pace in the second half in a 73-59 loss to Dallas on Friday night in SCAC action inside the Maher Center.
Robbi Martinez led LeTourneau (4-10, 1-4 SCAC) with 15Â points and
Mariana Espinosa added 12 points with seven rebounds in the loss.
Kaylin Cervantes had nine points off the bench.
LeTourneau trailed 15-9 at the end of the first quarter, but surged ahead in the second period. A Martinez 3-pointer began an 11-0 run for the YellowJackets over the first three-and-a-half minutes of the second quarter to give LeTourneau a 20-15 lead. Martinez had five points during the run and two Espinosa free throws gave the YellowJackets a five-point lead with 6:27 left.
A barrage of 3-pointers from Dallas (2-13, 1-4 SCAC) late in the period gave the lead back to the host Crusaders. After LeTourneau took a 24-23 lead on two
Fayth Fry free throws with 2:49 left in the second, Dallas hit 3-pointers on three straight possessions to grab a 32-26 lead into the break.
Dallas pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring LeTourneau 18-12, to build a 12-point lead (50-38) entering the fourth. The margin ballooned to 19 in the fourth.
Fry added eight points for LeTourneau. The YellowJackets connected on 31.3 percent (20-of-64) for the game and 18-of-28 at the foul line.
Dallas received a game-high 17 points and 11 rebounds from Isabelle Chevalier and 14 points from Lexi Arzate. The Crusaders made 37.8 percent (28-of-74) from the field with eight 3-pointers.
