SUWANEE, Ga. -- After a 2-0 week, LeTourneau men's soccer defender Kristian Princ and midfielder Bridge Mwambukiri each earned Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday.
Mwambukiri's performance on Friday night against Hendrix was one for the record books and earned him SCAC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career. Mwambukiri completed a hat trick in the first 24 minutes of play. This was the first hat trick in program history completed in the first half since 2003.
A sophomore from Houston, Texas, Mwambukiri leads the team with five goals this season, putting him in a tie for third on the conference goals leaderboard.
Princ, a senior from Eden Prairie, Minnesota, was a key part of a defense that held Hendrix to just one goal in a 6-1 rout on Friday night and then shutout Ozarks 2-0 on Sunday afternoon. Princ also netted his first career goal on Friday, which helped him win his second SCAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Princ played 65 minutes in the YellowJackets lopsided win over Hendrix and played a full 90 minutes against Ozarks. Princ played a key role in holding onto a 2-0 lead in the second half on Sunday. Princ scored as many goals as his team allowed this week, a rare feat for a defender.
The YellowJackets have now surrendered only two goals over their first four conference matches, with both goals coming via penalty kicks. Two goals is tied for the second-lowest total in conference play this season.
LeTourneau returns to action on Friday as they travel to Colorado Springs to face Colorado College (8:00 p.m. CDT).
