LONGVIEW, Texas – The LeTourneau volleyball team took down Ozarks in a 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-17) sweep on Senior Day for Nora Lockhart, Maddy Hirneise, and Kylee Marksberry.
All three players have contributed to LeTourneau's success over the last few years, as Lockhart currently sits second all-time in program history for total blocks, in addition to being fifth all-time in career hitting percentage. Hirneise sits just outside of the top 10 in total digs, while Marksberry has contributed 265 kills and 80 blocks in her three years as a YellowJacket.
Kassidy Meyer set the pace for LeTourneau's attack with nine kills, while Lockhart, Marksberry, Elizabeth Corbitt, and Claire Bezanilla each added five.
Hirneise recorded a career-high five aces, while Emily Mullin added 17 assists and four aces.
Ozarks (1-14, 1-7 SCAC) kept it competitive early, holding a 15-14 lead at the technical timeout. However, LeTourneau (9-11, 5-3 SCAC) responded later in the set, getting three consecutive aces from Hirneise, and finishing the set on a 6-0 run to take it 25-18.
LeTourneau took control of the second set early as 7-0 run helped them take control, going up 15-6. The Jackets continued to stretch the lead, eventually taking the second set 25-13 after kills from Marksberry and Gabby Ovalle.
The third set was more of the same as LeTourneau stormed out of the break by taking the first five points and keeping Ozarks on their heels. Leading 21-14 later in the set, the YellowJackets got consecutive aces from Mullin, putting themselves two points away from winning the match. Ozarks would win the next three points, but that's as close as they would get, as LeTourneau slammed the door with a 25-17 victory.
Ozarks was led by Brooke Humphrey, who finished with nine kills and nine digs.
