ROUND ROCK, Texas -- Trey Cates delivered a record-breaking performance and the LeTourneau men's golf team captured the Linda Lowery Invitational title at the par-72 Teravista Golf Club on Tuesday.

LeTourneau finished with a 1-under, 575 (286-289) in the 36-hole tournament to place 18 shots ahead of second-place St. Thomas. The YellowJackets topped the field of 11 teams, mostly comprised of SCAC members.

Cates set a program record for a 36-hole tournament by finishing 7-under with his 137 (68-69) and captured his first collegiate medalist honor. The junior opened with a round of 4-under, 68 on Monday before finishing with a 3-under, 69 on Tuesday. Cates was nearly flawless on Monday with six birdies and only one bogey, while he carded five birdies on Tuesday. 

The 11 birdies he recorded in the tournament was tied for the most in the field.

Kaiden Schneider also had a top-five finish as he placed in a tie for fourth with an even-par, 144 (73-71). Schneider birdied two of his final three holes on Monday and then had had four birdies over his final nine holes on Tuesday. He finished the tournament with seven birdies for his fifth top-10 finish of the year and the 19th of his career.

Dylan Bradley was 12th with a 5-over, 149 (72-77) playing as an individual. Bradley had five birdies on Monday and ended the tournament with seven total. Noah Summers was tied for 18th at 6-over, 150 (75-75) after a pair of 75s which included seven birdies.

Owen Prewitt was tied for 21st with an 8-over, 152 (70-82). Prewitt had a round of 2-under, 70 on Monday with three birdies and totaled seven birdies overall. Brody Holmlund also finished 8-over, 152 (78-74) with seven birdies.

Playing as an individual, Daniel Arcocha placed 25th with a 10-over, 154 (79-75).

LeTourneau led the field in par-4 scoring at 4.10 for the tournament and tallied 39 birdies.

The team title was the third of the season.
