LONGVIEW, Texas -- LeTourneau softball senior
Maddie Flanery and sophomores
Raina Doggett and
Bree Brege were all named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® team, announced the organization on Tuesday.
CSC, formerly known as CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Flanery, a senior from Tyler, Texas, becomes a three-time CSC Academic All-District honoree. The senior collected All-SCAC second team after batting a career-high .402 with a .503 on-base percentage, a program season record 45 runs scored, and 24 walks. She swiped 41 bases on the year to end her career with a program record 152 steals and also set a program career record with 134 runs scored. Her 16 multi-hit games ranked second on the team on the year.
Flanery was the SCAC Elite 19 Award winner and is a three-time conference all-academic selection. She graduated in May with her degree in kinesiology and earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete last season.
Doggett, a sophomore from Wylie, Texas, earns her first career CSC Academic All-District nod. The sophomore batted .286 with 15 RBIs and a .379 on-base percentage during the year. She had six multi-hit games and four multi-RBI games on the year.
Majoring in sports psychology, Doggett was an ASC Academic All-Conference honoree last year.
Brege, a sophomore from Lake Jackson, Texas, also earns her first career CSC Academic All-District honor. The right-handed pitcher made 17 appearances and totaled 56 innings of work during the season. She totaled three wins and one save, while notching her first career win after tossing six innings with noe earned runs in a victory at McMurry on Feb. 20.
Brege is majoring in kinesiology.
To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-America® program students must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA, be a significant contributor to the team (position players must have played in 90 percent of the team's games or started in 66 percent, while pitchers must have appeared in 17 games or thrown 35 innings), and be at least a sophomore academically.
