CLEBURNE, Texas -- For a second straight year, the LeTourneau baseball team will play for a conference title.
No. 2 seeded LeTourneau rallied for a 9-7 win over No. 4 seeded McMurry in a SCAC Tournament elimination game on Sunday night at La Moderna Field in Cleburne.
LeTourneau (26-18) advances to play No. 3 seed Concordia Texas on Monday at 12 p.m. in the championship round. The YellowJackets will have to beat the Tornados twice to win the tournament title.
The win Sunday night was LeTourneau's second of the day after run-ruling
No. 1 seed Texas Lutheran, 12-2, earlier in the day.
LeTourneau is in a conference title round game for the second straight year and the fourth time in the program's NCAA era. The YellowJackets last won a conference tournament in 2014 (ASC).
McMurry (21-21) took a 4-0 lead with four runs in the third inning, but LeTourneau answered back in its half of the inning.
Cody Brady doubled home
Austin Wiederhold and
Zach Baker to put LeTourneau on the board and a
Chris Savage RBI single made it a 4-3 game.
Down 6-3 in the fifth, LeTourneau tied the game.
Jonah McDaniel worked a 10-pitch at-bat and then launched a three-run homer to left-center field to tie the game at 6-6. The homer was McDaniel's sixth of the year.
McMurry briefly regained the lead in the top of the sixth, but the momentum was on the side of the YellowJackets. Savage delivered again in the bottom of the sixth as his single to center field plated Brady and Baker to put LeTourneau ahead 8-7.
LeTourneau added an insurance run in the eighth on a Brady RBI single.
Cruz Cox earned his 10th save of the year in dominating fashion. The senior tossed the final three innings and struck out three while not allowing a hit or a walk. Cox is the ninth player in SCAC history to record two saves in one tournament.
Camden Miller (5-2) picked up the win in relief as he went four solid innings allowing two earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts. That was in relief of starter
Ameron Sheikh who was productive in his two-plus innings to bridge the gap to the bullpen.
Brady finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Savage was 3-for-5 with three RBIs, and McDaniel was 2-for-2 with three RBIs in the win.
McMurry reliever Cooper Marshall (0-2) notched the loss. Collin Bruning had three RBIs for the War Hawks.
