LONGVIEW, Texas -- For the first time since 2010, the LeTourneau men's soccer team is 2-0. 

The YellowJackets took an early lead and never looked back, grabbing a 2-0 win over Schreiner on Saturday at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.

In just the fifth minute, Bridge Mwambukiri got fouled inside the penalty box off a feed from Colton Chalker. Karsten Guerra was selected to take the penalty, and he easily netted the chance with his right foot to give LeTourneau an early 1-0 lead. 

The score was Guerra's second goal of the season after scoring on Thursday night against Howard Payne. 

The home team kept the pressure on visiting Schreiner (0-2) in the second half. In the 67th minute, Aidan Arcega made a key interception and started a counterattack. Leandro Ferreira dribbled low into the left side of the box and fed a ball into Chalker, who quickly gathered and knocked in his first career goal to give LeTourneau a 2-0 lead.

The assist was Ferreira's first of the 2026 campaign. 

LeTourneau maintained offensive pressure throughout the match, gathering 16 shots, with eight being on goal. Cash Reese was given a red card in the 83rd minute, which stymied any chance for a Mountaineer comeback. 

The 2-0 start to the season marks the first time since 2010 the YellowJackets have won the first two to begin a season.

LeTourneau (2-0) was stifling on defense throughout the night, allowing just two shots on goal. The YellowJackets have now given up only three shots on goal over the first two games.

Carson Gamble played all 90 minutes in goal for Letourneau, saving both of the shots he faced. Mason Miller started in goal for Schreiner and gathered 6 saves.
